In the Cockpit was my first social media baby- doing something that has never been done before in Yuma Airshow history. I partnered with my coworkers Ana Zolorzano, Luis Landeros, and Joe Gonzalez to open the door to the amazing pilots and USMC personnel to show the Airshow world who is sitting, well, in the cockpit.
I as digital marketing coordinator, went on to research our best performing content on the page, which usually involved Marines and Airshow personnel directly, coordinate timing and filming for the interviews with a VERY busy staff (Airshow time is CRAZY!), and come up with a strategic plan to get the content out to our fans at the right times. Ana and Luis were the videographers and producers of the mini-series, where they researched the newest and best practices for video production, including sound, supreme video editing, and managerial support and encouragement. I could NOT have done any of this without the help of my team.
After publishing of the video series leading up the the Yuma Airshow in 2018, we saw a major increase in engagement and reach to our audience, on Facebook and Instagram respectively. We also saw an increase in attendance and interest in the Yuma Airshow- definitely a success in social media strategy.
Since it’s publishing and success, we have won the Gold Pinnacle Award from the International Council of Airshows; an amazing reward for our hard work.
